Arcapita acts as a principal, utilizing its own funds to complete investment transactions but with the ultimate objective of placing a majority of the equity with its investor base in the Arabian Gulf region. The investment placement team, based in Bahrain, is responsible for placing the equity portion of each transaction. Each transaction is presented separately and investors participate directly in each transaction at their sole discretion.
Arcapita’s investment placement team comprises experienced investment banking professionals covering all the main regions of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The investment placement team, which is divided into four different groups, regularly travels throughout the GCC to meet existing and prospective investors. Investors are kept updated on the performance of their investments through regular reports and personal visits by a member of the investment placement team and other members of Arcapita’s senior management team.
Since Arcapita started its operations, the Bank has proved its ability to place underwritten investments with its clients in the Arabian Gulf region. The investment placement team has succeeded in placing more than 90% of the total amount offered to investors and has built up an investor base in excess of 1,000 investors. Some of the Bank’s investment transactions have been oversubscribed, especially cash yielding real estate and asset-based investments. The strong and long term relationship that Arcapita has developed with its investor base is one of Arcapita’s key competitive advantages.
